The Gables Hotel, Birmingham Airport, Bickenhill

For my very short stay of 8 hours, the hotel was surprisingly quiet despite its location near the airport runway. The next door restaurant was a great find with friendly staff and reasonably priced food. The portable heaters in the room didn't help much with the temperature. The service was pleasant and helpful, but there was confusion about the payment. Overall, a decent choice for quick stays close to the airport for the price.

The hotel was a bit overpriced for room-only accommodation and lacked basic amenities in the rooms like a kettle, cups, or even a glass for water. The vertical blinds didn't block out early morning light effectively. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and very helpful, even taking guests to their family's restaurant after a festive night. The location was a bit confusing to find the bus stop to the airport, but it was close to the NEC, which was convenient. The dining options were pricey for what was offered, and the possibility of food upon arrival was misleading. Despite these drawbacks, the hotel provided a fantastic price for late check-ins and early departures with lovely, accommodating staff.
